August 25th - 31st

8/29/19

Dad: Just a quick update. Unfortunately you will not get your wish. Hurricane Dorian will hit Florida as a catagory 4, winds at 115 mph, this weekend.

Boise State game has been moved from Jacksonville to the other side of the state Tallahassee.

Dad: You might already know but Utah beat BYU 30-12. They had two pick six. Love you.

Me: What is a good time I can call today, or better when can I not call today

Dad: Can you call between 8-9. We are leaving at 8 and will be driving. Mom should be up by 0730 if that works better for you.

Dad: Good morning. I was listening to a conference talk by Elder Pace in 2007. He was talking about the Holy Ghost. We have been raised with the feelings and know what they are. The people who are investigating the church do not know what those feelings are. When you are teaching and you feel the Holy Ghost, stop and explain to them what they are feeling so they know.

Snake River football stated off with a win 42-14 over Kimberly. SR is ranked #5.

The Royals are under new ownership. The glass family sold it to John Sherman for 1billion. They are doing bad. Alex Gorden pitched a few days ago for them. The Chuckers have only won 8 games the second half.

I hope you have a good day. I am at work for a few hours then we've will probably close the floor again. We are busy getting ready for harvest.

Joe stopped by last night for Mom birthday. It was fun to have him. He is struggling with no friends though.

Love you,
Dad

Me: Holy cow. Crazy stuff. I am so glad about the football team. That's awesome. And sad about the royals. Hopefully new owner ship will get them back on track.

Dad: Boise State won 36-31

August 18th - 24th

8/20/19

Dad: The Bandits will play in the championship game today. Hostert will be the pitcher. They play North Dakota that they beat in their first game. ND has been on a roll. In both of their games yesterday they had 14 hits in each. Have a wonderful day.

Dad: The Bandits won the world series today. The game started last night but was rained out after one inning. Hostert was pitching he gave up two runs on two hits but he threw 35 pitches. Because he was over 30 he could not pitch today. They started down 1-2 but scored three in the bottom of the second today and held on to win 5-3. Fargo's pitcher last night was also over 30 in his inning.

Idaho has had two other teams in the finals. Pocatello lost in the very first world series in 1926 6-23. Lewiston lost in 2001 2-5.

Chance and Joe came over last night. Joe starts school today. Keep up the hard work. Love you.

Dad: Elder Isom, I pray all is well with you. Not much has changed this week. I did get to work almost all three days. Thursday I got called in to help in NICU. There was a 26 week baby, 40 weeks is full term, about to be born. I was the recorder and wrote down the time and everything that happened. It was fun to see all that goes on. The baby is doing well.

I can't believe how out of shape I am. We were sweeping the blacktop off tonight. I got winded after a couple of minutes. What a wimp.

I got some grain to fatten the steers up. They come running each morning and night to get their food.

The apples are getting big. We do have more worms than we ever had. I think the rainy days during bloom messed with the ideal timing.

Mom has CPR in the morning then your strange cousins are going to bless their baby at Jensen's Grove at 1:00. Not sure how that is going to work out. Looking forward to talking with you tomorrow.

Listened to a great devotional talk from a military commander. We never know when the Lord will need us. We must always be prepared and worthy so he can use us to bless his children. Now is the time to prepare so we can fulfill our callings. When a fellow soldier was wounded and needed a blessing he could not say Oh let me take care of a matter and I will get back to you. Always live the Gospel and honer the priesthood you have been blessed with.

Have a great week. Love you.

August 11th - 17th

8/15/19

Elder Isom, I hope you are having a wonderful week. I see Tate is down there now. It seems strange that he will leave before you. I was talking to someone the other day and they knew of missionaries that had to be at the MTC for three months to learn their language.

One of the steers got out Sunday morning so we had to get him in before stake conference. Elder K. David Scott was our presiding authority. It was really good. Saturday evening President Hawker said we are living in the day of revelation, enlightenment, and refinement. We all need stronger testimonies.

Elder Scott stated 1)"God does not care be about time. It is about timing." 2)"Seers today see 5 to 10 years in the future and are telling us what we need to do to prepare." 3) " If I seek it, the Lord will give me revelation." 4) "God gathers and Satin divides." I will give more of his message in the future. I think Mom shared some.

I mowed the orchard yesterday. I moved the pipe in the South so I could mow all of the rows. Mom and I went to Utah for Mom's dentist appointment today. I sent a letter from Tallyn and a newspaper clippings yesterday. The days are starting to cool so maybe the apples will grow bigger. Harvest will be here quickly. A lot to do to get ready. I sprayed the clover in the lawn. It is dieing so that should help the lawn look better.

I am working Saturday. I downloaded that app so you can try calling. My favorite scripture of the week is 1Nephi 18:3. I love you and can see so much spiritual growth already. Have a great week.

MTC, Week 1

Hi everyone,

Don't laugh as you look at how few people this email is going to. I didn't really get an email list, so oh well, it will probably get longer, maybe.

It's been a great 4 days. I have been so busy I don't have time to miss home or really think about home. I love my companion, Elder Baginski. He's from Southern California and is the exact opposite of me. He is in band from the big city. Just different, but the same tho 'cuz we both love the gospel and are both going to Florida.

My P-day will be Saturday's for the next 6 weeks.

My bed sucks. It's so squeaky so I try not to move a whole lot. It's kinda like jail but a good jail.

Everyone is so nice and the Spirit is so strong. I've felt it so much over the past few days.

I am so bad at Spanish. I'm the worst in my class and because of that I get a tutor for like an hour a week or something. That's such a blessing and the Lord is looking out for me.

I hope all is well at home and things are fantastic. I love you all and pray for you all at home everyday.

Love,
Elder Isom

Hey Mom,
I hope you're doing so well. It was not that hard to leave you. Hard, but not crazy hard. I've been so busy. I've been able to count my blessings and there are so many. The Lord is with me and he's helping me so much 'cuz I need it. It's humbling to be one of the worst Spanish speakers in my class. Oh well, I don't have to know that much to go out into the field. I'm so glad I got a tutor. I love my companion and my roommates. My district leader is amazing. He's from San Jose and knows Spanish so well. I'm doing good and have no thought of coming home. Love you. Have a great week.

Love,
Elder Isom
