Super Bowl's Coming to Town

It's been a long week.

We went to the temple today so our P-day is today and not Monday like usual. Umm, ya, the Super Bowl will be here in 2 days. Gonna be crazy!!!

We have a baptism this Friday for our friend, Jasmine. She is amazing and so ready. She just needs the interview and she's good!!! We went to her house and it was so nice.  She's got a nice pool and a huge house. We had Máte with them and prepped her for her interview. Her brother is a recent convert and he is going to baptize her, which is so cool.

I gave a talk in church and I shared about ministering. I shared a cool family story, it was really fun.

The Ward here is great and I love them so much. They're the best, they feed us so good. This week we had empanadas, a Chinese buffet, Denny's, and just tons of good stuff.

We had Zone Conference and Zone Council. It was really good.  We talked a lot about how to be successful missionaries and a lot about working with members!! It was bomb and super helpful.

Today is my 6th months from home. Crazy how time works! I can't believe it. Spanish is so fun, especially here. In the town next to us, Hialeah,  it is 97% Latin. Full of Cubans. It's so cool.

Everything is all good, I love y'all and have a great week.

Life by Miami

So my new area is AMAZING. It's called Miami Lakes and I am about 20 minutes from downtown Miami. The super bowl will be pretty close to me soon so the place is going to be bumping. The area is so nice. The houses are nice and it's so beautiful. Our house is actually super nice and we got a ton of weights so we get up at 5am and my companion is a gym rat so we works me hard till I can't move anymore. The area is like all spanish also. I was talking to a guy from Germany yesterday in spanish. Hahah only is Miami can you do that. This is the melting pot of the world. I love it.

There is so many cubans and they speak terrible spanish so I am learning and trying to understand them. They dont really say there s's at the end of words so it's like tre instead of tres or dio instead of dios. It's funny. I love it.

My companion Elder Gomez is sweet. He is from Venezuela and came to utah all by himself when he was 17 and is now here. Hes amazing and a stud. I am learning so much from him. He is really funny. Whenever he says a new phrase people ask him who taught him that and I die because that's like a parent telling a little kid that.

The ward is amazing here and the best part of the week has this family of 4 coming to church because a 12 year old boy invited them and they loved it and they want to come again. They were catholic but they didnt like that church cuz it was apostate, lol.  The catholic church is right next to our church so we will gladly take all them in.

But the ward is great and the feed us good and love the missionarys.

I am doing great and love my new area and I am learning how to drive like a crazy city person.

Take care yall and I love you,
Elder Isom

Time for a Change of Scenery!

Well y'all... I'm getting TRANSFERRED. I'm all packed up and ready to head to Miami Lakes, which is right by Miami. My new companion will be Elder Gomez.  He's from Venezuela so it will be so cool. I heard great things about him and he will help me so much. There is a ton of Cubans there so that will be tough, but I can do it, (Cubans speak really hard Spanish so that's why)

I'm leaving Greenacres which is sad. It's my birthplace and I have loved it. I have over 900 photos from this place and I have loved it. So many good times. This Ward and the people are like my second family and it's a new home for me I've found.

One amazing miracle we had was we finally got a lesson with our friend who we meet before Christmas. We went over to her house with a member. Before the lesson we planned to talk about the Plan of Salvation. I, for some reason (the Spirit was the reason),  grabbed a Book of Mormon out of the car to have an extra one. We meet the woman's husband and he is so cool. He had a ton of questions and liked how the Book of Mormon explained the fall of Adam and Eve. Then half way through our member shared his testimony and we changed the whole lesson after that to explain the Book of Mormon and we gave them that extra book I brought. They were super interested and we are excited to see how their experience was. It was awesome that we were able to change the plan to a better plan that the Spirit had for us.

We also set our friend Luis on date for the 22 of February.

One crazy thing was I was knocking and this black Pentecostal Pastor opens up and he is super nice and excited. He thanked us for teaching about Jesus and he asked if he could pray for us so we said sure. Then he puts out his hands and we join hands and he begins to offer a BEAUTIFUL prayer. He blessed us with the 6 angels of heaven. 3 for me and 3 for my companion. It was so hard to not laugh. Plus half way through the like 2 minute prayer his wife comes over behind him and starts saying "amen" and "hallelujah" in the background. Super cool times and I felt so energized after.

I love this place.

Have a great week y'all.

Love,
Elder Isom

2020!!!! Lots of Finding

New Years was so good. We had to be inside our houses at 7pm. Latinos also love New Years. We live by a ton of latinos and they love fireworks. I knew it was midnight because I got woken up and it was like a war zone outside with fireworks. That next morning was rough and it was hard to get going after not really sleeping at all.

We found a lot of friends this week. As we were walking to go knock an apartment building, we saw a father and a son getting groceries from their car. We offered to help them and kinda forced our way in to help carry the water inside. We took it inside and we got to meet the mom and another son. We shared a little message about families and I showed them a picture of my family and how we can all live together forever. They said we can come back in 2 days and share more with them. It was awesome to use that little action of service, and then use that to share the message of the Plan of Salvation.

This morning we went to the pier and watched the sunrise. Then after we went to IHOP. It was so cold this morning. It was 55 degrees. I was so cold. I know home is a lot colder, but jeez, I have kinda gotten used to this warm weather so I did not like the cold.

I have studied a lot about the Book of Mormon. WOW, is it true, that's about all you need to know. The Book of Mormon is true. If you know that everything else is alright. I have transfers next week so P-day will be Tuesday and we will see what happens to me.

Les quiero,
Elder Isom
