Christmas Time!!!

Christmas time!!! It was really good here. It so so so cold during Christmas here and the rest of the week was pretty good.

For Christmas and Christmas eve we had a district activity each night from 6 to 9 at night. We watched a movie one night then played sports the other night. This Christmas was pretty chill and we didn't do a whole lot or really celebrate hard. A member made us an awesome Peruvian meal. Christmas day we delivered some cookies to some members and they loved the gift and were so shocked we were doing things on Christmas but it was just a normal workday.

I am glad Christmas is over and can't wait for new years to end to then things go back to normal and we can go back to teaching regularly and stuff.

This Saturday we played some volleyball with Idolfo which was fun. He played on the Venezuelan national team and is currently preparing to be baptized in January. Today for P-day Elder Rosas and I went mountain biking at a park right by the beach in Miami. It was really fun!

Life is good right now and I am just still here and working hard. Have a great new year and make it the best year ever!

Merry Christmas!

Wow! What a week!  It has been so busy and exhausting but super rewarding.

We got some new missionaries and are ready for Christmas and we got some more amazing food.

Elder Rosas and I have been grinding and it's great. I love it. We both have about 18 months and the mission and just are what I would say in our prime I guess. It was a super busy week with lots of lessons as we are trying to teach everyone and ask referrals from everyone.

We got two brand new missionaries in the house and they are super cool. It's going to be a great transfer. We played volleyball Saturday and today in the morning with 4 other elders and it was so good.

We have a very athletic and group that plays good volleyball so it will be super fun.

We have been out in parks more talking to more people and so that is fun. We meet a cool lady and her mom at a park while they watched a little kid play on the playground.

We also delivered some boxes of food with a member of the stake to a college in Miami and I got to see Marlins stadium.

I'm excited for Christmas and this time of year. It's kinda weird because we don’t really celebrate holidays to much as missionaries, we just keep on working so I don't really feel like it's Christmas, it’s just kinda normal to me.

Lots of love and Merry Christmas to you all.

Another Week In Paradise

Hi everyone!

This week was a little longer because it is transfers and well... I'm staying thankfully here in Fontainebleau!!! Elder Rosas and I will keep on grinding and I am excited. The house will also get 2 brand new missionaries. I hope they are cool, but I'm sure they will be.

We have been kinda sick this week. 2 Elders went and got a Covid test but thankfully they were negative. If there were positive we would have had to be stuck inside, which would have been terrible. I was pretty sick Thursday and Friday but I am good now.

Friday we had a Christmas Zone Conference and talent show. It was soooo fun. My house did a Zoom call Parody and it was so funny. People loved it. We actually recorded it from a Zoom call we made as a house on last P-day and all the missionaries watched it on a tv. That was a super fun time to be around others and have a little bit of fun.

I went back to YSA and to the University for another exchange. It was a great week and I am doing really good.

We played volleyball with someone we were teaching, but he moved to another area, but he still lives close and he played on the Venezuelan National Team and so that was fun. We also went to Buffalo Wild Wings and had a funeral for an Elder who is going home. And we went to IHOP with my Hermano Francisco who we baptized 2 months ago.

Love y’all!

Back To School!!!

Hello everyone, what's new!!

I feel like I don't have a whole lot to share but I will share a few things.

It is December. The weather here is just amazing, but sometimes in the mornings it is a little cold for me. I am glad I go home in the summer and not the winter.

Things are pretty normal with missionary work. We have transfers in a week and it is crazy how fast this transfer has gone by.

I went on exchanges with Elder Skiba this week and he is a YSA Elder so I went to the campus her which is Florida international university. It was super cool but there was not like any people. The YSA missionaries have Instagram so I got to use Instagram and I just tried to slide in those DMs and see of any girls wanted to do a bible study with me. I also went on exchanges with the Zone leader and that was super fun.

I had interviews with President Pingree and it was so good. To start the interview, he called Elder Porter Albertson who just went home for knee surgery and I got to say hi a day before he had surgery.

We played some volleyball and life is good.

I'm sooooo excited for Christmas!!

I love y’all and take care,

It Has Been A While But I'm Good

Sorry it's been a few weeks but I am doing really well.

This email is going to be super short because my phone is being weird and not typing. It has a big lag so it will be a lot of photos.

Thanksgiving was good and we had a bomb meal.

Missionary work is good and I love you all.

"You Guys Know Who This Is?"

It was just another solid week in Fontainebleau. I love my new companion. Elder Rosas is from west Jordan Utah and is the oldest of 6 so that's cool. He is sweet. Super good at the piano and at drawing. It was been a super fun week getting to know him and to be working together.

Funny story: so, because of the storm we did not have church in person, only through zoom. So, we invited all the people we are teaching to be on it. After the meeting Bishop texts us and sends a screenshot with some guy smoking a cigarette while listening to the talks. He was like "yawl know who this guy is, he is enjoying a cigarette while listening to us preach?" Super funny. Turns out that guy is a referral we got who watched the thing. We actually meet him at the church yesterday and did a lesson and a chapel tour. He is kinda crazy but we will see. We texted Bishop back and said,  "ya, that's the guy getting baptized this weekend."  He does have a baptism scheduled for Sunday but it’s not the smoker, it's another guy, so I'm really excited for that.

We got lots of rain this weekend but we are good from the storm. Today in the morning we went to the Church and we had 10 elders come and we played volleyball and basketball and it was super fun. We had a few basketball players so it was some fun games. I am so excited for Christmas and I hope you all are also. It will be so fun. Have a great week and be safe!

Bautismo

This week was super busy so this will be a short email.

It was a super miracle filled and awesome week. We had two baptisms this week of Francisco and Joseito. It was busy preparing everything and getting them ready. They were awesome baptisms and they are super cool people.

We also had a cool miracle with a referral who only sent her address and lived in a gated community so we had no way to contact her unless we just tried to get it. So, we pull in and the security guard asks us who we are visiting and we tell him her name and where she lives. He calls her and then gives us her number and lets us in. I don’t know what happened but God helped us get in. She was so cool and she actually came to church Sunday so that was great.

I got my eyebrows waxed this week by someone we are teaching. It was fun and it was a good time to talk to her and get to know her and hopefully it helped her.

Other than that, things are great. I biked twice this week which was good because I haven't biked much during the quarantine.

Love,

Elder Isom

Mission Accomplished!!

I want to start off and tell you all that I did it!!! I saw an alligator.  We went to the Everglades. We went to a park and we shopped in the gift stores. And then we walked around. We took a lot of pictures. There were airboat tours but we couldn't do that but there was a little show and a guy talked about alligators and then we got to hold a baby alligator. All for 5 bucks. It was crazy. I loved it.

Yesterday at church I gave a talk and it was my first talk in Church for like 9 months. I talked for like 15 minutes. It was a long time. I only had 1 scripture and no notes so it was fun to just talk to them and share stories. I shared about my experiences ministering before the mission to my families and with my partner.

We have a baptism tomorrow so we have been preparing for that. We have been super busy with preparing everything for that and also with other people. This week we did a lot of service. We heart attacked a couple's members’ homes and also helped a family with their tv setup because they are older. We also made a video with some members that was fun.

Anyway, I love y'all and take care

Opening Up

Last P-day we went to a huge mall, Dolphin mall and it was super fun. We also did some service for a member and we had to take out a stump of a palm tree our with some old pickaxes. After 2 hours we got about half of it dug up and will have to go back this week. It felt so good to work. The member asked me if I was more a country boy or a city boy when we first got there and I said country and she got excited and put me to work doing that and it reminded me of the apples just working with trees. We also helped a member set up there tv and put Disney plus on it!!

Last night we had a zoom call with some youth in the ward and it was super fun. We did a meet the missionaries and we did a little Kahoot and then just talked and answered there questions. It was super fun to share about my mission with them. I love my mission.

Things are really good and I am healthy and the members feed us lots, sometimes 3 times a day!

Hopefully y’all have a great week and be safe!
