That's Trunky Stuff

Well, well, well y'all, it was an interesting week!

So, the big thing this week was I was the closest to home that I will be for hopefully another year plus... I went to the airport. It was the weirdest experience to go back and see where my mission started, and I got my first taste of the humid Florida air. So, here’s the story... An Elder who we live with had to go home. That's it. Haha, but he had some medical issues that the mission just couldn't help him with, so it was kinda a big surprise, but Wednesday we had to take him to the airport. It was so weird to just think that he is going home and how close home actually is. It was super sad because he is a great guy and an awesome friend.

So that means I have a new companion, Elder Krygier. I have lived with him for almost 3 months now and he’s super cool. We are in a trio now with him, Elder Alvarado and me. It's super fun. We are also running 3 areas so we each have a sim card and it's kinda like we all have our own area to run.

One amazing miracle that happened this week was with our friend Carmen. We received her as a self-referral 2 weeks ago. She was baptized before, but we could find her records, so we invited her to baptism again and she said, "Yes." She is older and doesn't remember much but she wants to learn everything again and get baptized. Also, we teach the Mata family like every day and Maria was like, "For my baptism I want El jovencito Isom to baptize me." It was so cute. I'm so excited for her.

That's about it y'all. Things are just crazy and about to get crazier because we could be getting a ton of missionaries!!! As early as next week we might be getting missionaries so that's good news. We will also get a lot.  They told our Mission President by September we might have 280 missionaries when we usually have a maximum of 180. It’s going to be interesting.

I love y’all so much and take care!!

We're Actually Figuring Things Out!!!

So it turns out that you can do missionary work just sitting on the couch and being a couch potato! We had an amazing week full of super cool stuff and miracles. It made me feel like a normal missionary and that this new missionary work is good.

We had a lot of lessons this week and received a bunch of referrals because everyone is bored inside so they don't mind the missionaries calling usually. We got to invite 3 of our friends for a baptismal dates, so they have something to work for. We have lessons over What's Adpp like every night and it's fun. It has its challenges but it's actually really effective right now.

So one thing we love to do, especially because of the other Elders who live across the hall, is workout. This Friday was leg day and we went hard because of the reward we get. There is a place here called Smoothie King and they have health smoothies that are so good. Every Friday is $5 Friday, so that is what we look forward to every week. So after I almost threw up from the work out we got smoothies and I felt better.

I am doing really good. I am doing great with my trainer again and we are killing it. It is fun to be back with him. We just sit on the couch for hours everyday calling people. I don't know how much longer this will go, but it will be alright. We can do this!!!

Picture explanations: One is from the Bishop's Store House that he helped out at on Yuesday; I made arepas (a Venezuelan food); other pics are just from the couch (our new office).

"Dad, Is That You"

Hi everyone, it's your Elder Isom.

I'm still in the casa and it's all good. Being in the house has gotten better but maybe that was because of the week we had and because of General Conference. General conference was soooooo good. The part that hit me the hardest wasn't any sayings or talks but it was the testimonies of the Apostles. At the end of all their talks they bore their simple testimony of Jesus Christ. When they bore testimony of Him I felt the Spirit so strong. They are special witnesses of the Savior and nobody in the world can share their knowledge of the Savior like them. I know that Jesus is the Christ also, the Savior of the world.

So, the title of this week is talking about my Dad, and I don’t mean my Father in Idaho, I mean my Mission Father, my trainer. My new companion will be Elder Alvarado again. It’s crazy, it's super raw to be companions with your trainer twice especially this soon. We were just together 4 months ago. It will be exciting. We also will take over 2 areas now. We have all the Spanish and English in the area. It's a lot of work but it's good. Elder Gomez is going to downtown Miami, to be the Zone Leader there. I will miss him so much. I learned so much from him. He’s a great missionary and I will look up to him.

The work keeps on going. We call a lot of people and we have fun still. I am motivated to keep up the work and I am so excited for this challenge and all the work we have to do with 2 areas.

Love,
Elder Isom
